can i choose anything off the ikea website?
you can, as long as it is in stock at the Brooklyn Ikea. keep in mind that some surfaces are better to work on than others, and some pieces come in multiple boxes, making shipping more expensive. the pieces shown on this site generally work well for customization, so it helps to use those as starting off points.
can i tell you what kind of design I like?
we definitely want to know what colors you love, and we'd like to hear which motifs shown on our site you liked best. but each design evolves in its own way, like a painting, and so we don't commit to specific design outcomes.
will you paint someone's name or initials on a piece?
yes!
what materials do you use?
all the painting is done using acrylic paints and paint pens, then clear-coated with a polyurethane varnish to keep the surface intact.
how do you price your pieces?
each piece is priced differently, but typically it is done with an idea of how many hours are put into it, and how intricate the design. what we love about Ikea is how affordable it is, and we don't want that to be lost - so we try to keep our prices low in comparison to other custom-painted furniture companies. many pieces end up being $100.00 or less. use the prices for the pieces on this site as a gauge for how much something else might cost, and then email us! the price includes our original purchase from ikea, but not shipping or 7% sales tax (when applicable).
how long does it take to get my order?
again, this depends on the size and details of the order. but we try to ship orders within 2 weeks.
do you accept returns?
we do not.
how much does shipping cost?
we ship via tracked USPS international priority mail. the price of shipping varies for each piece by weight. we do ship internationally, and if you live in the NYC area, you are welcome to come pick it up!
